OSWEGO — Volleyball had their 2nd SUNYAC match of the weekend yesterday. SUNY Oneonta visited Mark Ziel Gymnasium were the Lakers and Red Dragons used all five sets in this rivalry match up. Oswego would go down 2-1 going into the 3rd set until Junior Melissa Lussier helped lead the ladies to a comeback. This win is the first in conference play this season for the team which adds to their overall record of 13-6. Nazareth will enter the gym on Wednesday for a non-conference match starting at 7 p.m.

Oswego baseball shines against St. John Fisher
OSWEGO, N.Y. – The boys went to work Tuesday in a battle against St. John Fisher. Ultimately the Lakers were more hungry for the win and came out on top. They had the momentum early on and were able to maintain this momentum throughout the game. The Lakers went up by four runs after sophomore Jacob Levine hit one out of the park resulting in a three run homer. Levine had himself a day with a homer and four RBI’s. St. John Fisher would score six unanswered runs in two innings, ultimately taking a one run lead going into the bottom of the seventh. The Lakers were not going to let off the gas however as they answered right back with two runs after Lukas Olsson scored a two run homer to give the Lakers the momentum. Another three runs sealed the deal for the Lakers as they walked out with an 10-8 victory. The Lakers go on the road Friday to take on Fredonia in their final regular season series. Women’s Soccer finishes their 2019 Season after splitting weekend
OSWEGO — Women’s Soccer finished their 2019 season this weekend against two strong SUNYAC conference teams. The Lakers started their final home stand versus Fredonia on Friday that ended in a 2-1 victory for the Blue Devils. However, sophomore Maggie Riordan would score the lone goal for Oswego just over five minutes into the game from a Graisa Madden pass. Fredonia would later get two past goalkeeper Sophia Portalatin, one coming before the end of the half and the second immediately at the start of the next half. Portalatin would rebound the following day against Buffalo State with a clean sheet in a 2-0 victory, the first SUNYAC win of the season. Lynsey Roth would snag two goals in the match up, one on a Penalty Kick and her second off the pass from freshman Katharine Balog. The team did not qualify for the SUNYAC championships, and finished their campaign with an overall record of 3-14.

Terra is selected as SUNYAC Defensive Player of Week
OSWEGO — The SUNYAC Conference has selected Oswego State Men’s Soccer team goalie Brian Terra as the Defensive Player of the Week. Terra finished with five saves as the Lakers snapped a 5-game losing streak to lift the Lakers to a 1-0 win over Potsdam last Saturday. This shutout would staple Terra’s second shutout of the season, with his first being against Utica College and his fourth overall. Terra and the Lakers return to the Turf at 4 p.m. on Friday as they host the Buff. St. on Oct. 12.
