OSWEGO — The Lakers took the nationally ranked Oneonta to double OT when Witman Hernandez, leading scorer in SUNYAC, put the Red Dragons on top. In the 2-1 loss, Laker Jack Van Pelt got the lone goal off a free kick from sophomore Caleb Munski. Throughout play, Oswego defense blocked multiple Oneonta shots along with goalie Brian Terra’s five saves. The Lakers look to split the weekend with a game against New Paltz today. The team will honor their graduating class as this will be the regular season game at Laker Stadium.

Women’s Basketball falls to Oneonta Red Dragons
OSWEGO, NY — Women’s Basketball faced the Oneonta Red Dragons Tuesday evening that ended with the Lakers falling 50-35 to the Red Dragons. Oneonta would take the lead right off the bat as the Red Dragons opened up the scoring in the first quarter as they led 14 to 6. Junior Raiven Encarnacion would tally 13 points as she netted two 3-pointers in her 38 minutes played. Senior Syndi Eure would also net 13 points in the lost. The Lakers fall to 6-7 on the season and 2-5 in conference play as the team heads to Potsdam to battle the Bears Friday evening. Tip off is set for 5:30 p.m.

Game Recap: Skaneateles defeats Girls Buccaneers Hockey
OSWEGO, NY — The Oswego Girls Buccaneers Hockey team skated against the Skaneateles Lakers Wednesday evening. The Buccaneers would fall to the Lakers in overtime by a score of 5-4. Oswego was able to head into the second period trailing Skaneateles 2-1 after Aliana Diblasi tallied her second goal of the season the powerplay. Skaneateles would add two more in the second stanza but Oswego forward Mia Fierro would score her third on the year to put the Lakers within two heading into the final period. On Senior Night, captain Amelia Rastley would rip a shot past the Skaneateles goaltender to score her first goal of the season. Oswego would tie the game with under five minutes to go as freshman forward Lily Hunter scored her first varsity goal on the rush. The shot would push the teams into overtime before a redirected shot would get past Nyah Dawson who had a steady game in between the pipes for the Buccaneers.
Oswego will finish off their season on home ice as the Clinton Warriors travel into the Crisafulli Ice Rink Saturday morning. Clinton is currently undefeated heading into the contest and defeated the Oswego group 4-2 just over a week ago. Puck drop is set for 10:30 a.m. and WNYO will be broadcasting the game on 88.9 FM. WTOP 10 will continue to deliver content on the Oswego Girls Buccaneers Hockey team until the season concludes in the coming days.

Oswego State women’s basketball falls short in SUNYAC matchup
OSWEGO N.Y. — The Oswego State women’s basketball team hosted SUNY Cortland in a hard fought SUNYAC opener last night. The 3-3-1 Lakers looked to pick up momentum after a dominant win Sunday night. Despite a valiant effort, the Lakers came up short. With a final score of 67-53 the Lakers continued to fight until the final buzzer. Cortland had a twelve point lead at the end of the first quarter that unfortunately set the tone for the rest of the game. The Lakers put up a fight and kept the game close. Senior Danielle Caivana was on fire scoring a whopping twenty-three points this game. Despite Caivana’s outstanding performance, Cortland refused to let up and fought their way to victory. Sophomores Chastin Giles and Caitie Lilly were the other key contributors for the Lakers. While this loss must have stung for the Lakers, they turn their attention towards another SUNYAC matchup against the Buffalo State Bengals December 3rd in the Max Zeil Gymnasium.
