OSWEGO, NY — Former Oswego State Men’s Hockey goaltender David Richer has signed a professional contract with the Les Éléphants de Chambéry of the FFHG Division 2. The FFHG features four separate leagues with a regulation structure similar to Premier League Soccer. At the time the team’s season got canceled due to COVID-19, the group was getting set to play in the regulation tournament to figure out if the team would play in Division I next year. The team finished second in their division this year with 41 points.
Richer played 17 games for the Lakers this season in his senior year. The netminder finished with six shutouts to rank himself first in the SUNYAC conference. His goals against average was 2.20 and he finished with a save percentage of .911. He played three seasons with the Lakers and played in a total of 58 games for Oswego over the course of his career. Richer joins four other seniors to sign professional contracts after their senior seasons this year.

Oswego baseball shines against St. John Fisher
OSWEGO, N.Y. – The boys went to work Tuesday in a battle against St. John Fisher. Ultimately the Lakers were more hungry for the win and came out on top. They had the momentum early on and were able to maintain this momentum throughout the game. The Lakers went up by four runs after sophomore Jacob Levine hit one out of the park resulting in a three run homer. Levine had himself a day with a homer and four RBI’s. St. John Fisher would score six unanswered runs in two innings, ultimately taking a one run lead going into the bottom of the seventh. The Lakers were not going to let off the gas however as they answered right back with two runs after Lukas Olsson scored a two run homer to give the Lakers the momentum. Another three runs sealed the deal for the Lakers as they walked out with an 10-8 victory. The Lakers go on the road Friday to take on Fredonia in their final regular season series. #25 Oswego State men’s basketball team extends win streak to 11
OSWEGO, N.Y. — On Tuesday, the #25 Oswego State men’s basketball team defeated SUNY Geneseo 88-63, extending their win streak to 11. This victory not only marked the Lakers’ fifth win of the new year, but also the first Geneseo SUNYAC loss.
Through the first four minutes of play, both teams came out firing, with the Knights leading 7-6. Shortly after, Oswego found themselves on a 9-0 run lead by junior Jamal Achille who scored six points. After the Knights went on a scoring run of their own, Oswego was able to capitalize on a 13-4 run which put the Lakers up 38-22 at the half. The Lakers were able to hold the Knights to 25% from the field in the first half, their lowest shooting percentage in any half this season.
Both teams came into the second half scorching hot. In the first 10 minutes, Geneseo were perfect beyond the arch as they went 5-for-5 from three. However, the Lakers were able to keep pace with Geneseo’s scoring onslaught, answering every three with one of their own, going 7-for-9 from deep. Geneseo brought the deficit to eight, but Brendan Mulson hit a three to put the Lakers up by double-digits once again. Over the final six minutes of regulation, the Lakers continued their great shooting performance, hitting four more shots from deep as their lead grew to over twenty.
Oswego finished the night with 13 three-pointers while shooting a whopping 51.6% from the field. Senior Julien Crittendon lead the Lakers in scoring with 18 points while Devin Green totaled 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Brendan Mulson (11) and Ahkee Anderson (10) also scored double-digit points in the contest.
With this win, the Lakers are now in sole possession of the top seed in the SUNYAC conference. Oswego is also the #25 ranked team in the nation and with a win on Saturday against SUNY Cortland, they will almost certainly rise in the standings. Tip off is set for 4:00 p.m. at Cortland. Lakers Fall to Hamilton at Home
OSWEGO, N.Y. – Oswego State’s women’s soccer team returned home Tuesday night but fell short against Hamilton College, dropping a 3-1 nonconference decision at Laker Turf Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lakers (3-1-1) came into the matchup undefeated at home this season and showed early defensive resolve against the Continentals (1-2-0). Despite trading chances in the opening minutes, Hamilton broke through in the 31st minute when Maddie Ledbury converted a penalty kick to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.
Oswego responded with energy after halftime. In the 63rd minute, Kyla Sustad and Amber McDermott combined to set up Luna Catano, who buried her first goal of the season in the lower left corner to pull the Lakers level. The strike energized the crowd and momentarily shifted momentum in Oswego’s favor.
But Hamilton regained control in the closing stages. With just over 10 minutes left, Diana Baffor put the Continentals ahead, finishing inside the box in the 80th minute. Less than a minute later, Isabel Harvey added an insurance tally off an assist from Baffor, sealing Hamilton’s first win of the year.
Oswego goalkeeper Payton Crane was tested throughout, finishing with six saves against 23 Hamilton shots. The Lakers managed nine shots, four on target, with Catano’s equalizer marking their lone breakthrough. Despite strong defensive stretches and late offensive pressure, Oswego was unable to match Hamilton’s finishing efficiency.
The loss marks Oswego’s first setback of the season after a three-game winning streak. The Lakers will look to bounce back Saturday when they host St. Lawrence University in another nonconference matchup. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Laker Turf Stadium.
