FREDONIA, N.Y. — Oswego State Baseball extended their win streak to 10 games with a doubleheader sweep at Fredonia on Tuesday, April 20th by scores of 8-5 and 10-5. With the two wins, Oswego improves to 11-1 on the season, and 7-1 in SUNYAC play which ties the Lakers for first place in the SUNYAC West with Brockport. Fredonia would stay in third with a 0-10 conference record.
Home runs powered the Laker offense in game one, with five of the eight runs scored by the Lakers coming courtesy of the long ball. Paul Tammaro and Myles Felton would both pick up their first home runs of the season, as they led the Lakers with two hits apiece in game one. Tammaro hit a two run homer in the 4th inning to pick up his 2nd and 3rd RBIs of the day, and Felton would make it back to back, following it up with a solo shot of his own to put the Lakers ahead 6-0 after four innings. Jai Sharma gave up four hits in five innings of work in similar fashion to his first start, but Sharma would not allow a run in this outing and also struck out eight. Fredonia put up five runs in the bottom of the 7th to make it 6-5 with the Lakers in the lead, but Dylan Frawley picked up some insurance runs with a two run home run in the top of the 8th to put the game away, and help give the Lakers a 8-5 win.
Oswego came out hot in game one putting up five runs in the top of the 1st inning. Ryan Weiss picked up an RBI single, and Weiss would touch the plate as well on a Julian Drew grand slam that put the Lakers ahead 5-0 before Fredonia got their first at bats of game two. Tammaro picked up an RBI single in the 4th as a part of his 3-3 game two. Oswego led 10-1 after five innings, but Fredonia made another comeback in the form of a five run 7th inning, but the nine run deficit was too much as the Lakers took game two 10-5.
Oswego baseball is back in action Thursday, April 22nd against University of Rochester for a non conference doubleheader at 3:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. in Rochester. This is the first non-conference opponent Oswego will face since Clarkson on April 14th.
