OSWEGO, N.Y. — Pure domination from start to finish. That’s what I have to say about this contest. The Lakers hosted Plattsburgh Saturday in a win or go home matchup for both teams. The Lakers clearly proved that they wanted it more, winning in dominant fashion. Besides the opening face off, this game was never close. The Lakers got on the board in the opening minutes of the contest and were relentless the rest of the game. Up by five at the end of the first, this game was going just as planned for the lakers. At the end of the second Plattsburgh was down ten and the running clock was in full effect. The game was already over by halftime. Plattsburgh was able to score some pity points in the second half but the Lakers continued to dominate. The Final score was 17-6. An absolute massacre. Senior Isabella Lembo had an incredible performance in her last regular season game as a Laker. She scored a whopping seven goals in the contest. Sophomore Jullia Quirk also had an impressive performance with three goals. Logan Castiglione let all her teammates eat as she had two goals compared to her eight assists. The Lakers head to the first round of the SUNYAC championship this Tuesday. They take on SUNY Oneonta at 4 p.m on the road.

Oswego State Women’s Basketball falls short this weekend
OSWEGO, N.Y. — It was a rough weekend for the Lakers as they suffered two unfortunate losses Friday and Saturday. The Lakers played the Buffalo State Bengals Friday. Despite a valiant effort, the Lakers fell short with a fourteen point loss. Oswego State was off to a great start with help by star sophomore Chastin Giles. Giles had yet another dominant performance scoring twenty-one points. Not an uncommon sight seeing her put up big numbers like this. Giles was splashin all night, scoring five three pointers. Senior Danielle Caivana also had a notable performance with fourteen points. Unfortunately the Lakers were outscored in the first three quarters making a fourth quarter comeback highly unlikely. Despite Outscoring the Bengals in the fourth, it wasn’t enough to get the job done. The Lakers then had to shift their attention to the Golden Eagles of Brockport who have been on a tear this year.
The Lakers took on SUNY Brockport Saturday in a very close game from start to finish. The Lakers put up a fight but sadly came up short in a twelve point loss. Both teams put up big numbers in the first quarter with the Golden Eagles putting up nineteen and the Lakers with sixteen. From there it was a battle. The Lakers were hungry for a victory and fought tooth and nail to come out on top. Senior Danielle Caivana had yet another great performance dropping sixteen points, twelve of those points coming from threes. Caivana is the backbone of this offense and will surely be missed next season. Freshman Shania Iglesias also put up sixteen yesterday. These two combined for half of the teams points this game. Brockport was able to break free in the third and fourth quarter, outscoring the Lakers by fifteen to solidify their victory. The Lakers have a week to recuperate and try to get back in the win column as they go on the road to take on Fredonia on December 11th at 12:00 p.m.Image Provided by Oswego State Athletics

Oswego State men’s lacrosse drops conference game to SUNY Oneonta
ONEONTA, N.Y. — The Oswego State men’s lacrosse team fell to SUNY Oneonta Red Dragons this past Saturday by a score of 12-6. The Lakers drop to 3-2 in the SUNYAC conference
as the group looks ahead to their final two games of the 2022 regular season. Oswego State was held to only 1 goal during the second half while the Red Dragons pulled ahead to steal a game in the playoff race. Gavin Elston scored three goals over the course of the contest and netminder Aiden Kenyon made 20 saves with a .625 save percentage.
The Red Dragons improve to 2-3 in the conference. Oswego State still can control their destiny with 2 games remaining against SUNY Cortland and SUNY Brockport before the start of conference playoffs. The Lakers currently hold the final spot in the post season as the team prepares for a contest against the Red Dragons from SUNY Cortland this Wednesday at Laker Turf Stadium. Oswego baseball shines against St. John Fisher
OSWEGO, N.Y. – The boys went to work Tuesday in a battle against St. John Fisher. Ultimately the Lakers were more hungry for the win and came out on top. They had the momentum early on and were able to maintain this momentum throughout the game. The Lakers went up by four runs after sophomore Jacob Levine hit one out of the park resulting in a three run homer. Levine had himself a day with a homer and four RBI’s. St. John Fisher would score six unanswered runs in two innings, ultimately taking a one run lead going into the bottom of the seventh. The Lakers were not going to let off the gas however as they answered right back with two runs after Lukas Olsson scored a two run homer to give the Lakers the momentum. Another three runs sealed the deal for the Lakers as they walked out with an 10-8 victory. The Lakers go on the road Friday to take on Fredonia in their final regular season series.
