On the verge of the Lakers biggest game of the season, Oswego handled Potsdam in the Campus Center Arena with a 7-1 victory.
The freshman carried the team early when Matt Galati scored his team leading seventh goal of the season. Assisting on the goal were fellow freshman Dylan Smith and junior captain Bobby Gertsakis. Shawn Hulshof scored two goals later in the first period both on power-plays.
Potsdam got on the board in the second when Mike Arnold scored at 7:12 in the second period.
Oswego tacked on four more goals in the game with Stephen Johnson, Dylan Smith, Alex Botten and David Titanic tallying goals.

Oswego Vollyball Defeats Potsdam in SUNYAC Round Robin Play
A career-high 15 kills from sophomore Lauren Fie led Oswego to a victory over Potsdam. The scores for the match were 24-26, 25-18, 25-21, and 25-22. Oswego’s record improves to 8-10 with a 2-2 in conference record while Potsdam drops to 9-9 with a SUNYAC record of 1-3.
Fie, Alison Sullivan, and Shauna O’Flaherty all had double digits in kills and Sullivan’s five blocks were a match high. Junior Alison Berger earned a career-best in assists with 29 and digs with 12. Senior Rina Qelaj led the team in digs with 17.
The Lakers play again Saturday when they host Oneonta at 12 p.m. and Fredonia at 2:30 p.m.

Tyler Hall Take Two

OSWEGO, NY- Thursday October 27, 2016 kicked off a week of celebration for the newly renovated Tyler Hall beginning with the 12th Annual Lewis B O’Donnell Media Summit.
The first phase of the renovations took two-years and cost $22.2 million. Some of the renovations include state-of-the-art performance, rehearsal, recording and gallery spaces.
According to SUNY Oswego’s website, “Tyler Hall is such a public building. It’s where the college really gets to shine and show off its performing arts as well as its visual arts,” said Julie Pretzat, Dean of the School of Communication, Media and the Arts.
Tyler Hall held a Take Two debut open house on Friday, October 28. They welcomed members of the Oswego community, students, faculty, and alumni at their red carpet event.
Sophomore Communications student, Kelly Smith said “From the outside you would never assume that the inside was so beautiful. The art gallery may be the best part.”
The current exhibition is named ‘Restart’, which is meant to address the concept of new beginnings and fresh starts. The Art Gallery is open Tuesdays through Sundays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This years Media Summit was also held in the newly renovated Waterman Theatre. The new space has a capacity of 450 people with accessibility for those with disabilities.
The current performance to celebrate the grand reopening this past weekend is conducted by SUNY Oswego Theatre and Music departments creating a contemporary twist on the classic musical “The Wizard of Oz”.

Men’s Soccer losses to No. 7/8 Oneonta
The Oswego Men’s Soccer team lost their second game of the season at home against No. 7/8 Oneonta on Saturday by a final score of 3-1. Caleb Asamoah scored his sixth goal of the year during the 26th minute. The sophomore is now second in goals on the team behind Hassan Musa.
The Lakers registered 11 total shots with three reaching the net. The Red Dragons combined for 21 shots with 5 being on goal. Oswego net-minder Brian Terra stopped two of the five shots while Nicholas Giordano allowed one goal on three shots for Oneonta.
The Lakers’ next game is this Friday at 3 p.m. in Plattsburgh
