ANOTHER WEEK DOWN AND ON THIS FINE MONDAY WE ARE GIVING YOU YOUR OSWEGO STATE ATHLETES OF THE WEEK! STARTING OFF WITH MY TEAMMATE JOHN MACKIE OF THE MEN’S GOLF TEAM! THE SENIOR CAPTAIN WENT OUT WITH A BANG SHOOTING A CAREER LOW 74 ON SUNDAY OF THE OSWEGO STATE INVITATIONAL. HIS 74 ADDED WITH HIS FIRST DAY SCORE OF 80 TOTALED FOR 154 WHICH WAS GOOD ENOUGH FOR A TIE IN FIFTH PLACE OUT OF A FIELD OF SEVEN TEAMS! CONGRATS AGAIN MAN! ALSO RECEIVING THE HONOR ON THE WOMEN’S SIDE WAS EMILY LANGE OF THE WOMEN’S LACROSSE TEAM. LANGE HAD 14 POINTS LAST WEEK IN JUST THREE GAMES!!! SHE ALSO HAD TWO GOALS IN THE LAKERS FINAL GAME AGAINST ONEONTA. CONGRATULATIONS TO BOTH OF THESE ATHLETES ON A GREAT SEASON!STICKING WITH A MEMBER OF THIS WOMEN’S LACROSSE TEAM, NIKkI GRECO HAS EARNED THE SUNYAC GOALIE OF THE WEEK FOR THE THIRD CONSECUTIVE TIME!! THIS MARKS THE FIRST TIME SINCE 2010 THAT A GOALIE RECEIVED THIS HONOR BACK-TO-BACK-TO-BACK. GRECO HELPED LEAD THE LAKERS TO A 2-1 RECORD ON THE WEEK, TOTALING 38 SAVES WITH A SAVE PERCENTAGE OF .543. Oswego Men’s Hockey vs. Elmira
The Oswego Men’s hockey team had their best offensive showing of the season with a 7-3 win over Elmira Saturday, November 16.
The freshman line of Matt Galati, Kenny Neil and Alex Botten were key players in the victory. In the first period Kenny Neil opened the scoring on a powerplay goal. After an Elmira goal from Jarrryd ten Vaanholt, Mike Montagna the transfer from Vermont and Fulton, NY native scored his first goal of the season at 14:54 in the first.
The first period scoring continued for the Lakers as Brandon Adams and Matt Galati both found the back of the net for a four-goal first period.
The Lakers managed 41 shots on Elmira goalie Sal Magliocco.
Oswego goalie Justin Gilbert stood tall in net with 24 saves.
The Lakers are back in action 7 p.m. Friday in Geneseo for a crucial SUNYAC contest.
