
OSWEGO — The Oswego State Men’s Lacrosse team finished their fall season with two scrimmages against Cazenovia College and SUNY Polytechnic institute. It was the final test for them for the Fall before they transition to the spring season. The scrimmage also served as a fundraiser for the Wilmot Cancer Institute as admissions to the scrimmage were free and went towards Wilmot.

Oswego Hockey returns with sizeable win over Carleton Place

OSWEGO — Men’s Hockey kicked off their 2019-2020 season with a win over Carleton Place Saturday night. The 9-1 victory in the special Teal Night jerseys saw multiple Lakers getting onto the score sheet by the time the buzzer went off. Senior Derek Brown would net two goals in the first period and one in the third to get a hat trick. Another notable standout was Carter Allen’s three-point effort (1 goal and 2 assists). Each Lakers goalie would spend time in the crease for the team totaling for a combined 19 saves. Men’s Hockey hits the ice on Saturday for one last exhibition game versus Nazareth College at the Marano Campus Center. Puck drop will be at 7 p.m.

Oswego Women’s Basketball falls to New Paltz Hawks

OSWEGO, NY — Women’s Basketball falls into an eight game losing streak after dropping a SUNYAC match up against New Paltz 68-42. The Lakers fell behind early in the first quarter before the team outscored the Hawks in the second quarter 11 to 10. This would not be enough though as the Lakers would get outscored 42 to 24 in the second half to receive their tenth conference loss of the season. Junior Raiven Encarnacion led the Lakers with 13 points as she netted four field goals and four free throws. Oswego now sits in last place in the SUNYAC standings with only a .167 win percentage as the team still has six more conference games remaining. The Lakers will travel to Cortland on Saturday for a 2 p.m. tip off before traveling back home for a game against Plattsburgh the following weekend.

Oswego State women’s hockey shuts down Morrisville

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. — It was a very impressive performance for the Oswego State women’s hockey team Tuesday night as they shut out SUNY Morrisville 8-0. Everything was clicking for the Lakers as they easily soared past the opposing team in this NEWHL matchup. Junior Ariella Haas left it all on the ice with a whopping four goals to lead the team to victory. Other scores for the Lakers include Morgan Shines, Chyne Kennedy, and Taylor Hudson. The Lakers were off to an electric start when transfer Chyne Kennedy scored her first goal as a Laker against her former Morrisville squad just a minute into the matchup. This goal set the pace for the rest of the contest as the Lakers kept the goals coming in hot. With only four losses on the season the Lakers are establishing themselves as a very dominant team capable of shutting down opponents with ease.
With this incredible performance the Lakers head to the two seed SUNY Plattsburgh in a rivalry game that should not disappoint. Puck drop is at 7:00 p.m. on Friday in North Country. WTOP 10 will continue to provide coverage of the Oswego State women’s hockey team for the rest of the 2021-22 season.
