OSWEGO N.Y-  The Oswego Field hockey team hosted the Utica Pioneers on Tuesday afternoon. The Lakers started the game dominating in time of possession over utica in the first 5 minutes. Oswego struck first off the stick of Kacie Simzer 14:37 into the contest which would be the only goal of the quarter leaving the score 1-0. To start the second period the Lakers held the momentum they had with multiple penalty corners and 4 shots at goal but couldn’t get anything to go. Utica turned their great defense into offense and at 18:47 Mackenzie Mix got the Pioneers on the board to tie the game. No one else could get anything to go and it stayed tied at 1-1 after 2 periods.

Oswego came out firing to start the 3rd with three shots in the first 1:36 and they got one to fall coming from senior Kaitlyn Jordan. Oswego was able to capitalize over a couple yellow cards by Utica and Jordan was able to score her second goal of the game to bring the Oswego lead to 3-1. Kacie Simzer then netted the 4th goal for the Lakers with 9th seconds left in the third for a 4-1 lead. The real story of the game was the defense by Oswego not allowing any shots on goal in the second half giving the Lakers a 4-1 win. The Lakers all together ended with 10 shots on goal and Erica Scheblein kept up her great season with two saves and only one goal allowed.

Oswego will be back home in a SUNYAC matchup against Oneonta on Saturday, October 1st at 4:00 PM.
