OSWEGO, NY- The Lakers played a tough-fought game against the Brockport Golden Eagles but unfortunately fell short 75-60. The first quarter was a defensive battle where the Lakers were able to force missed shots from the Golden Eagles. The Lakers also missed plenty of layups and shots during the first quarter as well. Karleigh Leo would lead the Lakers in points after one quarter with five points. The score was tied at 12 at the end of the first quarter.

The Lakers finally were able to get into a rhythm in the second quarter. Karleigh Leo and Logan Castiglione both hit three-pointers to give the Lakers an 18-17 lead with almost halfway through the second quarter. The Lakers defense played stout in the second quarter as they forced the Golden Eagles to miss five consecutive three-point attempts in the quarter. Brockport was able to gain some momentum late in the quarter when they were able to hit a three-pointer and a couple of free-throws to give them a 32-27 lead over the Lakers at the half. Leo would lead the Lakers with eight points at the half followed by Shania Iglesias with seven.

Brockport would continue to put pressure on the Lakers in the third quarter. The Golden Eagles would go on a 12-point run before Oswego was able to cut the lead to four 43-39. The Golden Eagles would then go on a seven-point run to take a 50-39 lead with 2:08 remaining in the third. Oswego struggled from the field as they went 23.33% from the field but shot perfect from the free-throw line.

Heading into the fourth quarter, the Lakers trailed 50-43 but were unable to cut into the Golden Eagles lead. The Lakers would allow Stephanie Jean-Baptiste to hit three straight three-pointers to extend the Golden Eagles lead to 64-27 with 4:27. The Lakers managed to cut the Eagles lead to ten but gave up five points as they fell to the Golden Eagles 75-60. Karleigh Leo would lead the Lakers with 19 points on the night, hitting three three-pointers with Logan Castiglione scoring 17 points on the night.

The Lakers will travel to Buffalo State to take on the Bengals at 2 PM at The Sports Arena. Buffalo State is coming off a 61-46 loss to Geneseo where they currently sit a 1-5 on the season and 0-2 in the SUNYAC. The Lakers haven’t won against Buffalo State since the 2019-20 season.
