
OSWEGO — It’s that time of year again! It’s Hockey Season! As both the Oswego State Men’s and Women’s teams will take the ice this weekend at home in exhibitions. The women will get it started at 3 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, going up against the London Jr. Deviletes. The men will then follow at 7 p.m., as they host Nazareth College. Saturday will also see the opening of the new History of Hockey display in the arena, which will pay homage to Laker’s hockey, past, and present.

The Pathfinder Bank/Oswego State Hockey Classic concludes as Oswego drops game to University of New England

OSWEGO, NY — On the final day of the annual Pathfinder Bank/Oswego State Hockey Classic, the #10 Oswego Lakers dropped their final tournament game to the #9 University of New England Nor’easters 4-3. This nationally ranked match up featured multiple players making an impact on both sides of the match up as Tyler Seltenreich of UNE tallied a goal and assist as he led the Nor’easters to a victory. Laker Travis Broughman would add two goals to his season total to make the all-tournament team. The Saint Mary’s Cardinals, who bounced Oswego Friday night, beat the Williams College Ephs 4-2 to take the championship back to Minnesota. The Lakers move onto another nationally ranked match up as Oswego welcomes the Utica Pioneers into the Marano Campus Center January 10th. The Lakers have yet to beat a nationally ranked opponent this season as they still have Geneseo later in February. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.

Oswego Women’s Lacrosse Defeats Morrisville to Kickoff 2021 Season

MORRISVILLE, NY — The Oswego State Women’s Lacrosse Team won their first game of the 2021 season, defeating SUNY Morrisville 20-14. This was the first game for the Lakers in over a year due to the pandemic and they started their season off strong with a hard fought road victory. Sophomore midfielder Sela Wiley set the tone early, scoring Oswego’s first goal less than three minutes into the game. After going down 6-3 midway through the 1st period, junior attack Logan Castiglione scored back-to-back goals to cut the deficit to one. Following a quick Mustang goal, the Lakers would score six consecutive points heading into the second period, before going on multiple scoring runs to put the game out of reach.
Sela Wiley lead the Lakers in points, scoring 7 goals on 10 shots, while Logan Castiglione scored 5 goals on 8 shots. Midfielders Shae McConnell (4), Isabella Lembo (3), and attack Kamryn Sherman (1) each added goals of their own. Junior Goalkeeper Delaney Kendrick also had two saves in the win. Following today’s victory, the Oswego Women’s Lacrosse Team remains undefeated versus Morrisville, bringing their all time record to 11-0. The Lakers are now 1-0 on the season as they turn their attention to their first game in conference play on March 27th at SUNY Brockport.

Oswego Women’s Hockey announces 2020-21 Captains

OSWEGO, NY — On Sunday, April 26th, the Oswego State Women’s Hockey team announced their 2020-21 captains. Philomena Teggart and Aislinn McAleer will be the captains of the Lakers next season. Both players will be seniors next season and will be playing in their 4th season with the program. Philomena Teggart, the 5’ 7” defenseman from Pickering, Ontario, Canada, has 37 career points (12 goals & 25 assists) in 78 career games played over the past three seasons. This past year, Teggart finished third on the team in points and led defenseman with 21 points (9 goals & 12 assists). Aislinn McAleer, the 5’ 4” forward from Manasquan, New Jersey, has played in 60 career games and has recorded 6 points (2 goals & 4 assists) in the past three seasons. The forward recorded a goal and one assist last season, the goal coming against SUNY Cortland in a 3-2 win. These two players look to lead the Lakers in another successful season as the group were runner-up in the NEWHL conference this past season.
