OSWEGO N.Y.  The Oswego State Field Hockey team got off to a blazing start this weekend at they took care of both opponents this weekend in a handily manner. The Lakers team first took on Medaille college in the season opener on Friday night and wasted no time to score. Just 32 seconds in the game Senior Kacie Simzer scored the first of her two goals for the first Laker goal of the season which started an all out offensive attack by the Lakers. Senior Kaitlyn Ahle had a stellar day by leading the lakers in scoring with 3 goals and 8 points which ties the single game record for total points in Oswego history. Senior Megan Delaney and sophomore Kate McNally also chipped in with two goals of their own in the first half while Delaney earned herself multiple spots in the record books, tying the single game assists record and is now tied for seventh all time for points in a single game with seven. Ellie Kazel and Nancy Pagliaroli both added one goal in a 11-0 route of Medaille. 

The Lakers kept the momentum going the next day as they shutout Houghton university 5-0 Saturday afternoon. The Lakers would get off to a slower start than Friday as Megan Delaney had the only lakers goal in the first half at the 6:35 mark. The Highlanders applied pressure to senior goalkeeper Erica Scheblein at the end of the second quarter, but Scheblein denied the chances, tallying four saves in a row to end the half making it a 1-0 lead for the Lakers at halftime. The Lakers picked it up eight minutes into the second half as they took a 2-0 lead after Delaney set up teammate Molly Darcy for her first goal of the season. Newcomer Taylin Bauer stopped a 19 minute dry spell on both sides by scoring her first collegiate goal at the 42:30 mark while 4 minutes later Kaitlyn Ahle kept her hot start up by scoring her fourth goal of the season. Kaitlyn Mastracco added one more late as the Lakers win their first two games of the season to bring them to 2-0. The Lakers will try to stay undefeated at they challenge Keuka college on Friday, September 9th at 4pm.
