The Oswego State men’s soccer team fell to Buffalo State by a score of 2-1 Friday. The Lakers’ record drops to 6-5-1 and the Bengals improve to 9-1-2 overall.
Oswego midfielder Connor Lunduski scored the Lakers’ lone goal in the 81st minute thanks to a pass from Jason Siracuse. That is Siracuse’s fifth assist this season and Lunduski’s fifth goal. Despite outshooting the Bengals 8-4 in the second half of the game, they were unable to tie the match in 90 minutes.
Oswego’s next game is in Fredonia on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Enactus Club
OSWEGO, NY – If you’re a Business Management major and you’re looking to take the next stop to follow your dreams, then the Enactus program is the club for you. Enactus is an international organization with 1600 universities across 37 countries totaling around 60,000 plus students. I asked Spencer Wieland, senior vice-president of the Enactus Club to determine how do you prepare for the business world.
You can get a lot of real world experience joining Enactus or other organization (Weiland said). Enactus gives you the opportunity to do various projects in the community. Not only help the community but to actually get the real world experience of marketing and accounting.
The Enactus team will be traveling to Washington D.C. on the starting on March 28th and ending the 29th. Weiland claimed that they’re going to present a digitized project where we install new technology in the business such as a (POS System). If the team is successful enough, then they will be traveling to St. Louis later. (Date will be announced at a later date.)
To those that want to be successful in the business world in the future. Weiland states that a high GPA means a lot but doesn’t mean too much if you don’t have any real world experience. “Get involved!”

Oswego High School Marching Band Takes on Syracuse

Fall is an exciting time for the Marching Buccaneers as they approach the Syracuse finals. The Oswego High School Marching Band is gearing up to compete in the state championships held at the Carrier Dome. This is a huge event that is celebrated by both the marching bands, and anyone who loves a good show.
The music program at Oswego High School takes pride in music education and the arts as it is full of opportunities and has something for everyone interested in music. They have multiple bands such as jazz and orchestras, and even an annual “Festival of Winds.”
The months of September and October prove to be challenging yet exciting months for the Marching Buccaneers as they are practicing, performing, and then doing it all over again. On October 15 they competed in New Hartford, followed by the Central Square competition on October 22, and now they prepare for the NYSFBC (New York State Field Band Conference) Championships at the Carrier Dome on October 30.
In last year’s Carrier Dome championships, The Oswego High School Marching Band came in 4th place during show 3 (Small School 1 Class) with a score of 85. Every year thousands of students and dozens of bands perform a show in front of judges where they will be graded based on both their visual and musical performance.
The first Championship was in 1974 and only consisted of eleven bands participating. In the past years there have been around fifty bands participating and has even had participants from outside New York State such as Connecticut and New Jersey.

“Meet the Composer” Drumming Workshop in CNY Arts Center
FULTON – The CNY Arts Center will host a drumming workshop in collaboration with the Society for New Music on March 15 from 1 to 3 p.m. The workshop is open to everyone, and the center recommends people to bring any hand percussion instruments that they own.
Diane Jones, the main presenter of the event, is a composer, as well as a percussionist for the SU Brazilian Ensemble Samba Laranja. She also hosted a show on WCNY-FM, Central New York’s Classic Radio Station, and has performed with Mélomanie, The Relâche Ensemble, The Da Capo Chamber Players and Flautet.
“We are honored to host Diane Jones and to have had Cheryl Wilkins-Mitchell share this wonderful opportunity with us,” said executive director Nancy Fox. “We hope everyone will seize the chance for an afternoon of drumming fun!”
The event is being held in the CNY Arts Center, located on 357 State Street. The workshop will cost a modest fee, and pre-registration is encouraged.
