The Oswego State men’s soccer team fell to Buffalo State by a score of 2-1 Friday. The Lakers’ record drops to 6-5-1 and the Bengals improve to 9-1-2 overall.
Oswego midfielder Connor Lunduski scored the Lakers’ lone goal in the 81st minute thanks to a pass from Jason Siracuse. That is Siracuse’s fifth assist this season and Lunduski’s fifth goal. Despite outshooting the Bengals 8-4 in the second half of the game, they were unable to tie the match in 90 minutes.
Oswego’s next game is in Fredonia on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Lakers Struggle Against Buffalo State
The Oswego State women’s basketball team lost against Buffalo State on Friday by a final score of 56-44. With the loss, the Lakers’ chances of making the SUNYAC playoffs have greatly diminished as they fall to 7-15 overall and 4-11 in conference play. The Bengals move to 9-13 overall and 6-10 in the SUNYAC while also snapping a four game losing streak.
Oswego guard Courtney Ameele led all Lakers in scoring with 15 points despite her shooting just 4-for-23 from the field. Senior Zana Dillard had a team-high 5 assists and 16 rebounds.
The Lakers will look to get back to their winning ways on Saturday against conference foe Fredonia. Tip off is scheduled for 2 pm.

Men’s Soccer Wins SUNYAC Opener
The Oswego State men’s soccer team opened up SUNYAC play with a 1-0 win over New Paltz. Oswego’s victory marked the first time since this day in 2006 that the program won its conference opener.
The first and only score of the game came in the 59th minute as Lakers’ forward, Hassan Musa, netted his team-leading seventh goal of the season.
On the defensive side of the ball, Oswego held the Hawks to just three shots on goal. Goalkeeper, Brian Terra, improved his record to 4-1-0 after notching his second consecutive shutout.
Oswego, now 6-1-1 on the season will look to extend their winning streak to three games as they take on Oneonta tomorrow at 1:00 pm at Laker Turf Stadium.

Lakers Fall to Rival in Final Minutes
The Oswego State men’s ice hockey team lost against their rival, Plattsburgh, on Saturday night. With the loss, the Lakers drop to 18-5-2 overall and 13-2-1 in conference action while the Cardinals move to 13-11-1 on the season.
Oswego had their chances on offense throughout the game as they outshot the Cardinals 35-10. However, the stellar play of Plattsburgh goalie, Jimmy Poreda, derailed any momentum the Lakers seemed to have. Oswego’s best chance came in the third period when David Ferreira sent a shot into the crossbar of Plattsburgh’s goal.
While the Lakers were efficient at killing power plays, the opposite could be said about their power play offense. Oswego went 0-6 on the night and has failed to capitalize in their past 16 opportunities. The team has also been held scoreless for two consecutive games.
Oswego will look to get back in the win column next Saturday as they host the SUNYAC playoffs. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 pm.
