OSWEGO, NY — Men’s Hockey defeated their rivals Plattsburgh Tuesday evening in the Marano Campus Center 4-1 and will move on to the finals of the SUNYAC tournament. The Lakers got on the board in the first period thanks to sophomore Travis Broughman who tallied a goal in the first and second period to give Oswego a large lead. Joey Scorpio would get on the board towards the middle of the period as the senior buried a puck off a pass from Derek Brown. Captain Josh Zizek would net the fourth and final Laker goal in the final five minutes of the second period to give the Lakers a commanding lead heading into the final period. Plattsburgh would get one past netminder Steven Kozikoski on the powerplay, but the sophomore would record his first collegiate win in a Laker uniform. Kozikoski would save 21 shots and post a .955 save percentage in the victory.

Oswego will now look ahead to Geneseo in the SUNYAC finals as the Lakers will look to get a rematch of last year’s finals that occurred in the same spot. The Ice Knights are coming off a 7-0 win against the Potsdam Bears in the semi-finals round of the tournament. The Lakers last played Geneseo in the Marano Campus Center when the visitors took a 5-3 win and secured the number one spot in the standings. This match up is set for 7 p.m. in Geneseo on March 7th, this Saturday.
