OSWEGO, N.Y. — The Oswego State men’s hockey team got their first win of the season this past Saturday against the SUNY Canton Kangaroos. The 9-1 win in the Deborah F. Stanley Arena featured eleven Lakers getting on the score sheet. The first period finished with Oswego State up 4-0 heading into the intermission as Josh LeBlanc started off the scoring with the first two goals. The senior would add another assist by the end of the stanza and completed the hat trick in the third period. Newcomer Trent Grimshaw also had a four point night with one goal and three helpers. Travis Broughman and Alex DiCarlo would also get into the goal column with Broughman netting two and an assist along with DiCarlo snagging his second goal of the season and an assist.

All three Oswego goaltenders saw action once again in the exhibition match up. Eric Green and Steven Kozikoski were perfect during their twenty minutes in goal for the Lakers. Sophomore Richie Parent gave up the lone Roos goal during his time between the pipes. Parent would have five saves in the period.

Oswego kicks off their 2021-22 regular season this weekend with two non-conference contests. Friday night, a 2018-19 NCAA Tournament quarterfinal rematch will take place in the Deborah F. Stanley Arena as the Hobart College Statesmen will face off against the Lakers with a 7:00 p.m. faceoff. Hockey Night in Oswego starts at 6:30 p.m. on WTOP 10. On Saturday, Oswego heads to Elmira to take on the Soaring Eagles, recent winners of the United Collegiate Hockey Conference. That contest on Saturday night is still waiting for a set time for puck drop.
