OSWEGO, N.Y. — Oswego State Baseball continues to remain hot in the SUNYAC West with a sweep over the Fredonia Blue Devils. The Blue Devils came into the port city looking for their first SUNYAC win of the season and were left short. Oswego State would sweep the Blue Devils with scores of 17-6 and 9-2 and improved to 11-1 in the division.

The Lakers were led in game one by Dylan Frawley who was 3-4 at the plate and had four runs scored as well as a pair of RBI’s. Blue Devils pitching was not up to par with the Lakers hitting as Oswego was able to get 13 hits in the first game alone as well as drawing 12 walks with senior first baseman Ryan Weiss being the team leader with three of them. As for the second matchup, the Lakers were kept at bay for the first two innings but then erupted with 4 runs in the third then two runs in their last two innings . Fredonia’s only runs were scored in the fourth inning at that point it was already 4-0 Lakers. Oswego was led this game by 2nd baseman Ryan Enos who led the team in runs with three. Kieran Finnegan was able to carry the pitching for most of the game pitching 6 of the 7 innings with striking out 6 to remain unbeaten at 4-0 on the year. 

The Lakers now move to 17-1 on the season as well as 11-1 in the division, Fredonia now falls to 3-12 on the season and 0-12 in the SUNYAC West. The Lakers now have a chance to make history as they are two wins away from setting the program record for consecutive wins at 18 that was set back in 1982. Oswego will attempt to achieve this with a double header vs Clarkson University on Tuesday May 4th at 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Oswego already swept the Golden Knights once this season and have won their last 7 as well. As for Fredonia they look to find their first SUNYAC victory since 2019 with a double header matchup against the Brockport Golden Eagles on May 5th starting at 1:00 p.m.
