
OSWEGO, N.Y. — The Oswego State women’s lacrosse team will host their first home game of the 2022 season today at Laker Turf Stadium. Nonconference opponent Utica College will travel down Interstate 90 to take on Oswego State for the first time since the 2019 season.
The Lakers start off their season 0-2 after dropping nonconference contests to nationally ranked Williams Smith and Clarkson University. The offense is once again led by veteran Sela Wiley who has four goals and one assist. The captain leads the team in points heading into the third game of the season. Newcomer Madison Davis has three goals in two games played for Oswego State after starting the season red hot and earning SUNYAC Offensive Player of the Week honors. In between the pipes, freshman Sarah Kamide has played every minute for the Lakers. The netminder has given up 29 goals and averages 14.50 per game. With 26 total saves through two games played, the Laker post a save percentage of .473. Currently, the Lakers are getting outscored 12 to 29 against opponents this season. Oswego State has also averaged less shots per game compared to their opponents with a stat line of 17.5 per contest.
On the other side of the field, the Utica College Pioneers kick off their 2022 season with this contest against Oswego State. Last year, the Pioneers were 9-6 and 4-2 in Empire 8 conference play. The team finished their season in the final round of the playoffs, losing to Nazareth College 8-9.
In terms of the history between these two programs, Utica College won the last matchup between the two teams back in March of 2019. The 11-7 win came at home for the Pioneers against the Lakers. However, the Oswego State squad holds the history in their hands with a record of 5-4-0 against Utica College and looks to gain their sixth win this afternoon.

OSWEGO, N.Y. – It was a great way for the lakers to get back on track this weekend as they added two big SUNYAC victories to their record. The Lakers first faced the Mustangs in Morrisville where it was almost all Lakers from start to finish. After a scoreless first period for the Lakers Ashlyn Mcgrath scored two minutes into the second period. The lakers kept heavy pressure throughout the second period outshooting the Mustings 25-13. Mia Conboy tacked on another Lakers goal in the second scoring her first of the season. Morrisville was able to score at the end of the second but it was too late as the lakers momentum was not going to be stopped. In the third period sophomore Ashlyn Mcgrath scored her fourth goal of the season and second of the contest for the Lakers. A late goal by Mack Hull sealed the 4-1 win for the Lakers. The Mustangs had a chance at redemption the following day.
