OSWEGO, NY — Women’s Hockey kicks off their four game home stand this week as the Lakers prepare for their first games of the second semester. Tuesday Night is the first of three games this week as Hamilton travels into the Campus Center. The team from the NESCAC conference is currently 9-6 and is slotted in 6th in their conference standings. The last time these two teams met, which was last season, in which the Continentals secured the victory in a 3-1 win. The Lakers have not defeated Hamilton since the 2015-16 season, which came on the road in Clinton, New York. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. tomorrow night.
After this past weekend, Oswego remains in second in the NEWHL standings behind Plattsburgh. After tying Potsdam Saturday, the Lakers only sit two points above the Bears after both playing 12 games. If the standings remain the same, the Lakers will host the third seed in the semi-finals round of the NEWHL playoffs that occurs the last weekend of February.
The Lakers will go back to NEWHL play Friday night as Morrisville travels to Oswego for the first time this season. The last time the Mustangs and Lakers faced off resulted in Oswego coming away with a 4-3 victory. Philomena Teggart netted two goals in the victory along with freshman Kyleigh Grugin tallying one. Puck drop is also set for 7 p.m. from the Campus Center.
Saturday afternoon will feature the Lakers hosting their annual Pink the Rink game in which the team will wear pink jerseys. Potsdam will travel into Oswego for their last regular season match up against the Lakers. The recent transfer Tia Trovato who started her freshman season for the Lakers, will come back to Oswego for the first time since then. This game is set to begin at 3 p.m. in the Marano Campus Center.
