OSWEGO, N.Y – The Lakers suffered a tough loss at home during Senior Day as they fell to the Oneonta Red Dragons 1-0. This was the first time the Lakers lost at home this season.
The first half of the game was a defensive battle between the two teams. The first shot of the game would come from Emily Applegate but her shot was blocked by Oneonta’s defense. Immediately after Applegate’s shot was blocked, Lugina Serrao attempted a shot but her shot was blocked as well. Amber McDermott then attempted to shoot the missed shot by Serrao but she would miss. The Lakers recorded four shots during the first half but none were shots on goal.
In the second half, both teams started off slow. There would be 21 throw-ins in just the first 15 minutes of the second half. The Red Dragons would get their first shot in the second half at the 77-minute mark. Oswego would get their first chance to score around the 82-minute mark as Amber McDermott’s shot would be missed high into the air. Oneonta would score the only goal of the game as Gianna Gritzmacher would score the goal for Red Dragons as she was assisted by Tara Nicholson. Both Oneonta and Oswego would record a total of 5 saves during the game. Goalie Perri Anderson would record only one save during the game.
The Lakers face the Fredonia Blue Devils on October 19th at 3 PM at University Stadium. The Lakers are looking to get back in the win column as they have two games remaining this season both of them being SUNYAC matchups.

Oswego baseball shines against St. John Fisher
OSWEGO, N.Y. – The boys went to work Tuesday in a battle against St. John Fisher. Ultimately the Lakers were more hungry for the win and came out on top. They had the momentum early on and were able to maintain this momentum throughout the game. The Lakers went up by four runs after sophomore Jacob Levine hit one out of the park resulting in a three run homer. Levine had himself a day with a homer and four RBI’s. St. John Fisher would score six unanswered runs in two innings, ultimately taking a one run lead going into the bottom of the seventh. The Lakers were not going to let off the gas however as they answered right back with two runs after Lukas Olsson scored a two run homer to give the Lakers the momentum. Another three runs sealed the deal for the Lakers as they walked out with an 10-8 victory. The Lakers go on the road Friday to take on Fredonia in their final regular season series. Women’s Lacrosse falls to Clarkson
OSWEGO, NY — Women’s Lacrosse faced off against Clarkson Wednesday afternoon at Laker Stadium for a non-conference match up. The Lakers fell 9-5 to the Knights as Clarkson was ahead 4-1 heading into halftime. The Lakers would try to rally in the second half as the team netted four goals but that did not compare to Clarkson’s five goals that helped lead the team to victory. The Lakers were led by Montana Garrett as the senior netted her 100th career collegiate goal and two other goals for the hattrick. Molly Beck also tallied two goals for Oswego. Netminder Elianna Sanchez would make seven saves in the lost.
The Lakers are currently 1-2 as the team lost to William Smith back on February 29th in Geneva but won their home opener against Morrisville. Oswego now gets set to travel to Williamsport, Pennsylvania to play Lycoming for another non-conference match up. Their first SUNYAC match up will not be till March 21st when Fredonia travels to Laker Stadium. Saturday’s match up will begin at noon.

Mens Baseball Sweeps Fredonia in Weekend Action
ROCHESTER, NY – It was a successful weekend for the Lakers as they convincingly beat the Fredonia Blue Devils in both of their encounters this weekend. Game won was nothing short of a blowout that saw the Lakers dominate Fredonia with a final score of 12-1. The momentum was in favor of the Lakers from the start as they truly dominated this game. Fredonia would score their only run of the game in the top of the second inning. Senior Colin Williams was on fire this game as he finished with one run and two RBI’s. It really was a team effort however as the Lakers were firing on all cylinders from start to finish. The Lakers looked to take this momentum into the next day where they had a rematch against the Blue Devils.The Lakers kept the momentum rolling the next day when they knocked off Fredonia for the second time. This game was a lot closer and saw both teams fighting hard for a victory. The Lakers started off hot scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Blue Devils weren’t going to let history repeat itself as they bounced right back tying the game in the third. The Lakers then went on to score three more runs and the game looked like it was shaping up to be another Lakers victory. Fredonia was not done however as they came right back and scored three more runs to tie the game at six. After this the game got out of hand with the Lakers completely taking over. Freshman Emil Sander would score the Lakers final run to give them a five run victory as the Lakers completed the weekend sweep. The Lakers look to keep this momentum rolling as they head to New Paltz this Friday at 3pm.
