
OSWEGO, NY — Women’s Basketball played their second SUNYAC match up of the weekend against the Buffalo State Bengals Saturday afternoon. Oswego would come away with the victory 79-67 as the Lakers would secure their second conference win of the season. Oswego’s offense was led by senior Quincey Zimmerman who scored a career-high 24 points. Senior Sydni Eure also added 18 points for Oswego along with Raiven Encarnacion securing three 3-pointers to keep the Lakers in control throughout the game. The team is set for another SUNYAC match up on Tuesday as they travel to New Paltz for a 5:30 tip off.

Oswego women’s lacrosse takes care of business against Buff State
BUFFALO, N.Y. – It was a dominant victory for the Lakers yesterday as the handled Buff State with ease. The “core four” was in full effect and back on track as all four had great performances. Leading the charge this game was Madison Davis with an impressive five goals on the day with two assists, making her the lead scorer. Right behind Davis was the star of the show Sela Wiley with four goals and three assists. Julia Quirk also put on a clinic with three goals and contributed to this dominant victory. This contest was pretty much put away after the first quarter as the Lakers put up ten goals in comparison to Buff States two goals. The Bengals stepped up their defense for the rest of the contest as the first quarter was by far the most dominant for the Lakers. Despite Buff States efforts to bounce back they were no match for this Lakers team as the final score was 18-7. The Lakers look to keep this momentum going as they return to Laker Turf Stadium to take on SUNY Cortland this Friday at 4pm. Catch it live on WTOP 10!

Oswego State Baseball Looks to Tie Record

OSWEGO, N.Y. — The Oswego State Baseball team will face off against Clarkson for the second time this season on Tuesday, May 4th. The Lakers have a chance to tie their win streak record that was set at eighteen victories back during the 1982 season as the group heads into the doubleheader with a sixteen straight wins. Oswego comes into the contest with a 17-1 overall record and is undefeated in non-conference matchups this season. The Golden Knights of Clarkson enter the doubleheader with a 12-13-1 record and is currently coming off a split with conference opponent RIT.
Clarkson and Oswego have already met up in Potsdam this season as the Lakers were able to get a sweep on the road back in April. The 17-13 and 9-4 wins were momentum boosters as multiple Lakers were able to get hits against the Golden Knights. Since those two games, Clarkson has gone 4-5-1, all games against Liberty League opponents. Since April 14th, Oswego has been able to take sole possession of first place in the SUNYAC West division. Today’s doubleheader will give the two teams a chance to take a break from conference opponents and build momentum for the final stretch of the season. First pitch is at 1:00 p.m. and game two is tentatively set for 4:00 p.m. from Laker Baseball field.

Oswego State Volleyball falls in first conference matchup

OSWEGO, N.Y — Oswego State Volleyball kicked off conference play this past Tuesday in the Max Ziel Gymnasium. The Lakers were swept by the Red Dragons of SUNY Cortland. The opening set was close until a 7-2 Cortland run which extended their lead to 18-12. Oswego kept the second set interesting as the Lakers trailed the Red Dragons 22-21 after serves from freshman Cara Simpicio. The outside hitter led Oswego with eight kills and 11 eleven digs over the course of the match. After a pair of errors from the home squad, Cortland would take set two. In the third set, the two teams were tied at 13-13 prior to a 6-0 service run from Cortland that led the Red Dragons to their first conference victory of the 2021 season. Oswego State falls to 0-1 in the State University of New York Athletic Conference. The Lakers will travel to Fredonia Friday, September 24th, for their second conference matchup of the season.
However, the Lakers will host a tournament this coming weekend in the Max Ziel Gymnasium. Oswego kicks off action against Elmira Friday night at 8:00 p.m. before hosting SUNY Canton and St. John Fisher on Saturday. Oswego State Volleyball fans can check out all the action on WTOP 10!
