President Trump calls himself ‘big loser’ to Democrats over GOP tax plan
by Kathleen Haynes
President Trump is in the news today for calling someone a “big loser,” but it wasn’t directed at who most would expect. The President referenced himself as a loser when talking to Democratic senators Tuesday about the Republicans’ plan to overhaul the tax system. Multiple people with direct knowledge of the phone call reported this information to CNN.
At least twelve Democratic senators were in attendance for a meeting organized by Senator Joe Manchin when the President unexpectedly called into the meeting. Trump spoke for about 10 minutes during the call that took place at 6 a.m. in South Korea local time. Senator Tom Carper described the call as a “nice touch,” but stated that it seemed Trump was doing more talking than listening. Trump said that Republicans plan to repeal the estate tax because the plan is “just so bad for rich people.” The meeting was organized because Manchin wanted Democrats to have more input in the process, but multiple senators described it as more of a conversation about the process rather than negotiations on the specifics.
The President is currently visiting South Korea where he today addressed the country’s National Assembly in Seoul. During the speech, Trump delivered a blunt message to North Korea vowing that the United States will respond with military force if needed.
“Every step you take down this dark path increases the peril you face,” Trump said.
The next stop on the 11-day Asia trip is Vietnam.

Limited Commuter Parking At SUNY Oswego

Students from SUNY Oswego find it difficult to park in Commuter Lot 8. When the commuter lot is full, students know the consequences and park in a non-vehicle spot, red brick pavement. Students, like Juliann Geraci and Adam Pignatti, explain their opinion on their struggles.
“You notice people would pull over those pavements and even if they know they would get the ticket, they would park there and be late to class,” Adam Pignatti said.
According to University Police, Lieutenant Barbeau. He states the statistic of tickets on the month of February issues 85 tickets given due to non-vehicle parking. He also mentioned the total number of tickets compared from last semester to now, is more of an issue from the beginning of last semester to now.
Juliann Geraci suggests that schools should come up with a better method of developing the spaces in the commuter lot to prevent the issues.

Preacher Disrupts SUNY Oswego

OSWEGO, NY— Last Wednesday, a man named Saint Jesse Morrell unexpectedly visited the quads delivering his religious opinion. For roughly 20 minutes he was aggressively yelling to students his ideas of the LGBT community, targeting their lifestyle, calling it a sin. The students didn’t agree with what he was saying, retallying back in an argument until the police showed up. Since he did not have a free speech permit from the school, he was asked to leave.
“He has freedom of speech,” Oswego student Sarah Novak said after he targeting her and her girlfriend. “So we also have freedom of speech, so we choose to kiss and fight hate with love”
The full video of the event was uploading by Jesse Morrell – Open Air Street Preacher on YouTube. The campus still has not responded on the situation.
