OSWEGO, NY — On Monday, October 19th, the State University of New York Athletic Conference released a statement in regards to the cancelation of the winter sports season. This announcement comes after the SUNYAC Presidents discussed the topic during a meeting. Two week prior, on October 6th, the athletic directors approved schedules for the sports of men’s ice hockey, men’s basketball, and women’s basketball. These schedules were released to the member schools and public before being retracted the following week. All winter championships have been canceled which included the sports of men’s and women’s swimming & diving and men’s and women’s indoor track & field. The release finished with the acknowledgement that the conference will continue planning for the possibly of spring sports. This will be announced at a future date.
On Friday, October 23rd, the Northeast Women’s Hockey League released a statement stating that the winter season will be canceled. The NEWHL that includes the Oswego State Lakers has the same commissioner as the SUNYAC, Tom DiCamillo, which means the league usually follows SUNYAC decisions. The ECWC has not made a decision on if the 2020-21 season will be held, which features the Oswego State wrestling team.

A Preview of the 2020 Pathfinder Bank/Oswego State Hockey Classic
OSWEGO, NY — In the first weekend of the new decade, Men’s Hockey welcomes in three out of conference teams to the 2020 Pathfinder Bank/Oswego State Hockey Classic. The 14th edition of the four team tournament is set to begin this Friday as the Lakers look to defend the title. This year, the competition is set to feature three nationally ranked programs, #9 University of New England, #10 Oswego, #14 Williams College, along with Saint Mary’s University traveling in from Minnesota. The Lakers, who currently sit atop the SUNYAC conference with an overall record of 7-3, will face the Saint Mary’s Cardinals at 7 p.m. on Friday in the semifinal round. The 3-5-1 Cardinals look to build on their win over Gustavus Adolphus College back on December 7th, while Oswego looks to bring home some recent success that was found on the road. #9 University of New England and #14 Williams college will face off before hand at 4 p.m. which will feature an offensive talented group from UNE against the defensive Ephs of Williams college. Women’s Soccer falls to Potsdam in 2-0 Loss
OSWEGO — Women’s Soccer started their four-game home stand yesterday afternoon against Potsdam. Oswego gave up two goals in the first half and could not recover by the end of regulation. The team put five out of their seven total shots on net during the second half but could not get past the Bear’s goalkeeper. Emma Allen would make eight saves during the match up. The Lakers look to bounce back in today’s game versus SUNY Plattsburgh. The group is still looking for their first conference win of the season. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. at Laker Stadium.

Oswego womens soccer continues to dominate with win over Potsdam
OSWEGO, N.Y. – It was another day at the office for the Lakers as they tool it to the Potsdam Bears from start to finish. The Lakers came out swinging early and did not take their foot off the gas the whole game. Freshman Briana Winkler put the Lakers on the board early as she has made a huge impact on the team in her first year as a Laker. From there it was a bit of a back and forth battle until the end of the half. The second half is where things picked up for the Lakers as Katie Delgrosso put the Lakers up 2-0. With five goals on the season already, Delgrosso has been on an absolute tear. Potsdam just couldn’t do anything to halt the Lakers momentum as Lexi Thompson scored the third and final goal of the game for the Lakers, putting the contest away. The Lakers outshot the Bears 17-6 putting on an offensive clinic. The Lakers look to keep the hot streak rolling as they travel to Geneseo to take on the nights in a SUNYAC matchup this Wednesday.
