Women’s Basketball Notches 1st Victory Over Bay Path

The Oswego Women’s Basketball team took on Bay Path today for Third place in the Max Ziel Tournament. The Lakers were looking to make a statement after losing to D’Youville by six points yesterday, and boy did they ever as the Lakers were too fast and tall for the Wildcats as they picked up their first win of the season 88-to-51.

In the first half alone got to the charity strike 29 times. Capitalizing 16 times from the line, the Lakers made more free-throw’s then the Wildcats shot. Oswego The Lakers relied heavily on the run-and-gun offense. As soon as Oswego won a loose ball or got a rebound, they made a quick transition to the other side and while the Wildcats were trying to set up their defense, Oswego would find a player for a high percentage shot. This was pretty much the story of the game With all of this said, The lakers had a 20 point lead over Bay Path by half time, 46 to 26.

Oswego was the perfect example of sharing the sugar and effective passing. Top performances for Oswego came from Alison Nunziato, with 19 points 6 rebounds 3 assists 3 blocks and 2 steals, and Rachel Windhausen, with 16 points 7 rebounds and 4 blocks. On top of these individual performances, 8 Lakers recorded 4 rebounds or more in this game.

Oswego next plays Tuesday at Clarkson.
