OSWEGO, N.Y. – Oswego State’s women’s soccer team returned home Tuesday night but fell short against Hamilton College, dropping a 3-1 nonconference decision at Laker Turf Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lakers (3-1-1) came into the matchup undefeated at home this season and showed early defensive resolve against the Continentals (1-2-0). Despite trading chances in the opening minutes, Hamilton broke through in the 31st minute when Maddie Ledbury converted a penalty kick to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.
Oswego responded with energy after halftime. In the 63rd minute, Kyla Sustad and Amber McDermott combined to set up Luna Catano, who buried her first goal of the season in the lower left corner to pull the Lakers level. The strike energized the crowd and momentarily shifted momentum in Oswego’s favor.
But Hamilton regained control in the closing stages. With just over 10 minutes left, Diana Baffor put the Continentals ahead, finishing inside the box in the 80th minute. Less than a minute later, Isabel Harvey added an insurance tally off an assist from Baffor, sealing Hamilton’s first win of the year.
Oswego goalkeeper Payton Crane was tested throughout, finishing with six saves against 23 Hamilton shots. The Lakers managed nine shots, four on target, with Catano’s equalizer marking their lone breakthrough. Despite strong defensive stretches and late offensive pressure, Oswego was unable to match Hamilton’s finishing efficiency.
The loss marks Oswego’s first setback of the season after a three-game winning streak. The Lakers will look to bounce back Saturday when they host St. Lawrence University in another nonconference matchup. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Laker Turf Stadium.

Game Recap: Skaneateles defeats Girls Buccaneers Hockey
OSWEGO, NY — The Oswego Girls Buccaneers Hockey team skated against the Skaneateles Lakers Wednesday evening. The Buccaneers would fall to the Lakers in overtime by a score of 5-4. Oswego was able to head into the second period trailing Skaneateles 2-1 after Aliana Diblasi tallied her second goal of the season the powerplay. Skaneateles would add two more in the second stanza but Oswego forward Mia Fierro would score her third on the year to put the Lakers within two heading into the final period. On Senior Night, captain Amelia Rastley would rip a shot past the Skaneateles goaltender to score her first goal of the season. Oswego would tie the game with under five minutes to go as freshman forward Lily Hunter scored her first varsity goal on the rush. The shot would push the teams into overtime before a redirected shot would get past Nyah Dawson who had a steady game in between the pipes for the Buccaneers.
Oswego will finish off their season on home ice as the Clinton Warriors travel into the Crisafulli Ice Rink Saturday morning. Clinton is currently undefeated heading into the contest and defeated the Oswego group 4-2 just over a week ago. Puck drop is set for 10:30 a.m. and WNYO will be broadcasting the game on 88.9 FM. Oswego baseball shines against St. John Fisher
OSWEGO, N.Y. – The boys went to work Tuesday in a battle against St. John Fisher. Ultimately the Lakers were more hungry for the win and came out on top. They had the momentum early on and were able to maintain this momentum throughout the game. The Lakers went up by four runs after sophomore Jacob Levine hit one out of the park resulting in a three run homer. Levine had himself a day with a homer and four RBI’s. St. John Fisher would score six unanswered runs in two innings, ultimately taking a one run lead going into the bottom of the seventh. The Lakers were not going to let off the gas however as they answered right back with two runs after Lukas Olsson scored a two run homer to give the Lakers the momentum. Another three runs sealed the deal for the Lakers as they walked out with an 10-8 victory. The Lakers go on the road Friday to take on Fredonia in their final regular season series. Women’s Soccer falls to Potsdam in 2-0 Loss
OSWEGO — Women’s Soccer started their four-game home stand yesterday afternoon against Potsdam. Oswego gave up two goals in the first half and could not recover by the end of regulation. The team put five out of their seven total shots on net during the second half but could not get past the Bear’s goalkeeper. Emma Allen would make eight saves during the match up. The Lakers look to bounce back in today’s game versus SUNY Plattsburgh. The group is still looking for their first conference win of the season. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. at Laker Stadium.
