The Oswego State Lakers jumped out to an early lead and ever looked back defeating Ithaca 99-73. Kyle Covley lead the way for the Lakers with 21 points on the night. Coveley was 6-8 from behind the arc.
Oswego had 15 three-pointers in the game, two away from the team’s all-time high of 17 in a game.
Leading the way for Ithaca with 18 points a piece were Frank Mitchell and Tom Sweeney.
Oswego improved to 2-1 on the season while Ithaca fell to 1-2.

Women’s hockey hosts Canton
This past weekend, the women’s hockey team hosted Canton for a two-game series.
On Friday night, the Lakers defeated the Kangaroos, 10-1. Olivia Ellis lead the charge for the Lakers, having three of the ten Laker goals. Alexa Aramburu also lead the Lakers with two goals and three assists. The Lakers would shine on the powerplay, converting a goal on four out of five powerplay chances. Mariah Madrigal would get her third shutout of the season.
On Saturday, the Lakers beat Canton, 6-1. For the second-consecutive day, the Lakers were paced by Alexa Aramburu and Olivia Ellis. The pair had identical outings, each recording a goal and two assists for three points.Freshman goalie Amber Samonek would be in net for the Lakers and remains perfect on the year. She improves to 3-0-0 with 11 saves against Canton.
With the two wins against Canton, the Lakers move to 11-1 overall and 5-1 in conference. On Friday, the Lakers will take on Hamilton at home.

Oswego Polar Plunge
The Special Olympics New York Central Region is hosting their third annual Polar Plunge in Wrights Landing, Oswego.
The event will take place on March 28, and involves participants jumping into the lake at Wrights Landing regardless of the weather conditions of the time.
By registering, participants will have the opportunity to raise money for the athletes of the Special Olympics, and those who raise $100 or more receive a Polar Plunge Sweatshirt.

Lakers win exhibition game over CCHL
The Oswego men’s hockey team started their new season with a win over the CCHL All-Graduate team by a final score of 3-1.
Mitch Emerson, Michael Gillespie, and Chris MacMillian registered the Lakers’ goals in the exhibition while Travis Broughman tallied CCHL’s only goal.
The Lakers went 1-6 on the power-play and were 4-5 on the penalty kill.
Oswego starts their regular season on Saturday at home against Elmira.
