Both Men’s and Women’s Hockey start the season off strong

OSWEGO — Hockey is back in Oswego and although they were exhibition matches, the atmosphere was electric. The Lady Lakers took on the London Jr. Devilettes and snuck in two goals late in the third period to secure a come from behind 4-3 win. Later that night, the men’s team took on Nazareth and it was a very physical game. The men scored three goals in the first period to jump out to an early lead and held them scoreless in the last two frames. Tanner Spink led the charge with two goals as the Lakers would pull away with a 5-2 win.
Hockey is back in full swing

OSWEGO — It’s that time of year again! It’s Hockey Season! As both the Oswego State Men’s and Women’s teams will take the ice this weekend at home in exhibitions. The women will get it started at 3 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, going up against the London Jr. Deviletes. The men will then follow at 7 p.m., as they host Nazareth College. Saturday will also see the opening of the new History of Hockey display in the arena, which will pay homage to Laker’s hockey, past, and present.
Myers and Paul Owen receive Athlete of the Week

OSWEGO — Each week, students are chosen by the Oswego State Athletics Department as Athlete of the Week. This week, the award was given to Liz Myers of Women’s Soccer and Sean Paul Owen of Men’s Golf. Myers scored the go-ahead goal in the 101st minute to seal the victory last Saturday against Buffalo State. For Sean Paul Owen, he shot a 74 last Saturday and a 71 on Sunday as the Lakers took first place in the Nazareth Invitational.
Burbridge and Schaffner find the back of the net in win over Canton

OSWEGO — The Oswego State Women’s Soccer team defeated SUNY Canton yesterday by a score of (2-0). Fifteen minutes into the game, Audrey Burbridge capitalized on a shot far post for her first goal of the season. Mackenzie Schaffner would join in on the scoring moments before halftime to extend the lead to two. Goalkeeper Emma Allen earned her sixth shutout of the season as she recorded two saves in the contest. The Lakers will look to carry their momentum into Brockport this Friday for a meeting with the Golden Eagles.
