Russell Westbrook dropped 27 points, grabbed 18 rebounds, and dished out 14 assists to help Oklahoma City (11-8) snap New York’s (8-9) six-game winning streak at home. The former UCLA guard is now averaging a triple-double this season with averages of 30.9 PPG, 11.3 APG, and 10.3 RPG.
The only player to average a triple-double for an entire season is Hall of Famer Oscar Robertson, who did it for the Cincinnati Royals in the 1961-62 season.
Enes Kanter (27 points and 10 rebounds) and Steven Adams (14 points and 10 boards) both had double-doubles for the Thunder.
Derrick Rose had a game-high 30 points for New York on 10-20 shooting from the field. That was the former MVP’s first 30+ point game as a member of the Knicks. Kristaps Porzingis and Carmelo Anthony added 21 and 18 points, respectively.
The Knicks will head to Minnesota on Wednesday to take on the Timberwolves at 8 P.M.

Democratic Debate Gives First Look at Candidates
Last night marked the first of many Democratic Presidential Debates in which Hillary Clinton surprised many with her professional and poised approach. Along with candidates Bernie Sanders, Martin O’Malley, Jim Webb, and Lincoln Chafee.
Clinton has been listed as the frontrunner for the Democratic side of the Presidential Race for some time now, but candidate Bernie Sanders’ recent uprising in the polls has given her campaign some fits.
Many were excited and curious to see how Sanders would be in the debate, and he stayed true to himself, being the ultra-progressive, almost revolutionary candidate that many Democratic voters have fallen in love with.
The major piece to take from this debate is the overall sense of unity of the candidates that was not seen in the Republican Debate. For the most part, all five candidates agreed on the same set of principles including higher taxes on the wealthy and stricter gun regulations. Where they did differ is on their plans on how to achieve their goals.
Overall, Clinton seemed to show off her confidence as being the frontrunner, whereas Bernie Sanders stuck with his radical approach that may have won him a couple voters. While we do not know for sure who will emerge from the Democratic Party for President, what we can be sure of is that it will be an election for the ages.

United Way of Greater Oswego County’s Annual Chicken BBQ
Oswego, NY – On Saturday, October 6th United Way of Greater Oswego hosted their second annual chicken BBQ at Woodchuck’s Saloon. From 12-4pm, meal tickets could have been purchased for ten dollars. Meals include chicken, Woodchuck-styled baked beans, salted potatoes, and a roll.
Patrick Dewine, executive director of United Way of Greater Oswego, explains the purpose of last weekend’s event.
“An event that we ran in order to help raise funds for our annual campaign and it also brings awareness about our campaign, which is under full swing right now,” Dewine said.
Dewine explains, that the campaign focuses on trying to motivate the community to give money or volunteer, in order to help fund many different organizations that cover issues such as hunger, addiction, and other issues within the county.
Lexie Wallace, resource development director of United Way of Greater Oswego, shares the importance of bringing awareness to the community.
“There are parts of Oswego county that are a little more rural, so not as visible as a big city like Syracuse, so sometimes that need can be a little hidden,” Wallace said. “I think the power of word of mouth is often overlooked.”

SUNY Oswego ends the two-week pause, but restrictions remain. Surveillance testing will continue.

She says the campus has successfully slowed the spread of COVID-19. However, the only change permitted will be the transition to in-person classes.
This means students, on or off-campus, are still expected to limit their movements for essential purposes only. Student clubs and organizations cannot hold meetings in person. On-campus students cannot host visitors in their residence halls, including students from other dorms. The dining halls will still be takeout only.
All outlines in the SUNY-wide emergency directive will continue to be enforced at SUNY Oswego. The directive says a student’s card access can be revoked if a student fails to fill out their health screening or fails to take a mandatory COVID test, At a press conference today, President Stanley says no such issue has been brought to her attention where a student forgets to fill out their health screening or failed to take a test.
Oswego County Administrator Phil Church says the Oswego County Health Department approved SUNY Oswego’s decision to continue in-person classes. SUNY Chancellor Jim Malatras praised the effort between the college and the community to contain the virus.
Oswego Mayor Billy Barlow says only one mass gathering was broken up during the two week pause.
According to SUNY Oswego’s COVID-19 dashboard, there are only 28 active cases of COVID-19 in the campus community and 30 counting towards the NYS-remote learning threshold.
Stanley says the school will continue surveillence testing which will take place every three weeks.
