OSWEGO, NY — Men’s Hockey continued non-conference play Saturday night against Elmira College but fell short after the Lakers mounted another third period comeback. The 4-3 final featured similar stories to Friday night’s game against nationally ranked Utica College. The Soaring Eagles would open the scoring just 19 seconds into the game before sophomore Josh LeBlanc would tally his first goal of the season. Senior Cedric Hansen started in net for Oswego but gave up two more goals early on before David Richer was brought into the game just 30 seconds into the second period. Freshman Alex DiCarlo would lead the third period charge with two goals in only his ninth collegiate game, with that first goal being his first ever collegiate goal. The freshman, who is not a regular in the Oswego line up, has six points (2 goals & 4 assists) so far through his first season.

The Lakers still set a top the SUNYAC conference, however the Lakers are .500 for the first time all season. The team travels to Nazareth for another non-conference matchup where the Lakers look to turn their season around. The Lakers have had success against the Golden Flyers, as the teams faced off for an exhibition game in Oswego this past October. The 4-3 final featured four different scorers for the Lakers along with two different goaltenders in net for the team. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. from the Bill Gray’s Iceplex.

OSWEGO, NY — #15 Men’s Hockey welcomed in #7 Utica College Friday night for another nationally ranked match up, which is the second in as many games for the Lakers. The Pioneers would win 4-3 in a tight match up which featured freshman Alex DiCarlo tallying two assists and captain Josh Zizek tying the game halfway through the third period. Senior Cedric Hansen would give up the go ahead goal but played strong after reliving starter David Richer in the first stanza of the second period. This is Oswego’s fourth lost to nationally ranked opponents as the move forward with an overall record of 7-6. The Lakers are set to play the Elmira College at 7 p.m. in the Marano Campus Center.

OSWEGO, NY — On Monday, January 6th, United States College Hockey Online released the first national rankings of the new year for Men’s Hockey Division III. Oswego State continues to move down the list as the Lakers sit ranked 15th receiving 35 points after slotting in 10th previously. The 7-5-0 team is currently on a two game losing streak after dropping games to Saint Mary’s and #9 University of New England. The Saint Mary’s University Cardinals received votes for the first time this season after upsetting both Oswego State and Williams College, who moved up one spot to #13 this poll.

Upcoming opponent Utica College moved inside the top 10 as they are currently ranked 7th with an overall record of 9-2-2. The Pioneers travel into Oswego this Friday after recently traveling to Michigan to play #12 Adrian College. Utica came away with two overtime wins that weekend and a bump in the rankings.

Elmira College and SUNY Canton both receive votes once again as both teams travel into Oswego in the month of January. The 7-3-1 Elmira Soaring Eagles (6) recently came off a win against familiar opponent Plattsburgh 4-1. The Canton Roos (16) are 6-3-1 and also defeated the Cardinals 4-3 earlier in the season. Elmira faces off with Oswego this Saturday while Canton won’t play the Lakers till later in the month.

Geneseo moves up one ranking into the second spot after securing two wins this past weekend. The Knights also find themselves in second in the SUNYAC standings right behind the Lakers with a 5-1-1 conference record. The two teams meet up again on February 7th in the Marano Campus Center for a rematch as Geneseo took the first meeting 9-1 back in November.

The Lakers still have 13 regular season games left before the start of the SUNYACs. This second half of the season features multiple nationally ranked opponents along with multiple conference match ups that are important for Oswego to stay in first in the SUNYAC standings. 

OSWEGO, NY — On the final day of the annual Pathfinder Bank/Oswego State Hockey Classic, the #10 Oswego Lakers dropped their final tournament game to the #9 University of New England Nor’easters 4-3. This nationally ranked match up featured multiple players making an impact on both sides of the match up as Tyler Seltenreich of UNE tallied a goal and assist as he led the Nor’easters to a victory. Laker Travis Broughman would add two goals to his season total to make the all-tournament team. The Saint Mary’s Cardinals, who bounced Oswego Friday night, beat the Williams College Ephs 4-2 to take the championship back to Minnesota. The Lakers move onto another nationally ranked match up as Oswego welcomes the Utica Pioneers into the Marano Campus Center January 10th. The Lakers have yet to beat a nationally ranked opponent this season as they still have Geneseo later in February. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.

OSWEGO, NY — The Lakers fell short to Saint Mary’s University Friday night due to a stellar performance in net by Al Rogers for the Cardinals. The 1-0 score line featured Oswego out shooting the Cardinals 30 to 22 and dominating in the face off circle 38 to 17 thanks to forward Anthony Passero. This loss is the first of the season in the Marano Campus Center and snaps their three game win streak that came out of SUNYAC play. Moving forward, the tenth ranked Lakers continue in the Pathfinder/Oswego State Hockey Classic tomorrow night against the #9 University of New England Nor’easters who fell to #14 Williams College earlier in the day. The Cardinals and Ephs will do battle at 4 pm for the Pathfinder Championship.

OSWEGO, NY — In the first weekend of the new decade, Men’s Hockey welcomes in three out of conference teams to the 2020 Pathfinder Bank/Oswego State Hockey Classic. The 14th edition of the four team tournament is set to begin this Friday as the Lakers look to defend the title. This year, the competition is set to feature three nationally ranked programs, #9 University of New England, #10 Oswego, #14 Williams College, along with Saint Mary’s University traveling in from Minnesota. The Lakers, who currently sit atop the SUNYAC conference with an overall record of 7-3, will face the Saint Mary’s Cardinals at 7 p.m. on Friday in the semifinal round. The 3-5-1 Cardinals look to build on their win over Gustavus Adolphus College back on December 7th, while Oswego looks to bring home some recent success that was found on the road. #9 University of New England and #14 Williams college will face off before hand at 4 p.m. which will feature an offensive talented group from UNE against the defensive Ephs of Williams college. OSWEGO — Lakers hockey battled the Brockport Golden Eagles Friday night which resulted in a 4-1 victory for Oswego. Brockport would open the scoring a little over halfway into the first period after getting one past goalie David Richer. He would save the rest of Brockport’s shots to finish with 21 total. Jody Sullivan would tally one four minutes later as Joseph Molinaro and Chris MacMillan received the assists. The Lakers would pull away from the Golden Eagles in the second period as captain Josh Zizek would put one in within the first two minutes. Travis Broughman and Colton Fletcher would both add by the end of the second to secure the win. Joseph Molinaro was a standout as he finished with 3 assists on the night. The Lakers will look forward to tomorrow night’s trip to No. 2 Geneseo to play their fifth SUNYAC game of the campaign. Puck drop is at 7 p.m. and coverage will be provided by WNYO in the Ira S. Wilson Ice Arena.

OSWEGO — Men’s Hockey will continue SUNYAC play this weekend as the Brockport Golden Eagles travel to Oswego Friday night. Both teams have 3 wins so far in conference play this season as both groups sit a top of the standings. The No. 3 ranked Lakers will hold their fourth-annual “Teddy Bear Toss” against Brockport who hasn’t won against Oswego since 2015. Travis Broughman has had a strong start to his sophomore season after tallying two goals and three assists in the three games played. Senior defenseman Carter Allen has also put up four points this campaign after getting an assist last time out against Potsdam. Coverage will start at 6:30 p.m. on WTOP 10 for Hockey Night in Oswego. OSWEGO — Men’s Hockey stays perfect so far this season with a commanding 8-1 win over SUNY Potsdam Saturday night. Carson Vance and Colton Fletcher started the scoring for the Lakers in the first period. The Bears would get on the scoreboard late in the second period on a powerplay rebound tally. Oswego would answer right off the faceoff at the start of the third period from a Jeff Solow shot. That would be the first of five unanswered goals to come in the rest of the period before the end of regulation. Cedric Hansen would earn the win with 20 saves in the contest. Travis Broughman would be the most notable Laker tonight with two goals and two assists. Moving forward, the Lakers host Brockport this coming Friday at the Marano Campus Center. Puck drop will be at 7 p.m.

OSWEGO — Men’s Hockey came away with a shutout victory Friday night against rivals Plattsburgh in the first game of Whiteout Weekend. The 3-0 win puts the Lakers up 2-0 in SUNYAC play while the Cardinals drop to 0-3. Senior David Richer was perfect for Oswego with 25 saves in the contest. Anthony Passero would strike first on the powerplay with Derek Brown getting the assist. Passero’s first goal of the season came halfway in the first period. The Lakers would add to the scoreboard just two minutes later as Carter Allen buried the puck that came from Josh Zizek and Jody Sullivan. The third Oswego tally came off a Travis Broughman shot that was finished by Tyler Currie on the rebound with roughly eight minutes left in the second period. Jeff Solow would also get credit with the second assist for his first point of the campaign. Oswego is back in action Saturday night against the Potsdam Bears, who are coming off a loss from SUNY Cortland. OSWEGO — Men’s Hockey will do battle to their second opponent on Whiteout Weekend Saturday night against SUNY Potsdam. The bears began their season this past weekend with a tie against Geneseo (3) and a lost to Brockport. This coming game will be the second matchup for both teams of this weekend as Potsdam will travel to Cortland to face the Red Dragons. After sweeping the Bears last season, the Lakers look to take game one of the home and home series as they will not see Potsdam again until February. Puck drop will be at 7 p.m. at the Marano Campus Center. The game can also be found live on WTOP 10 starting at 6:30 p.m. with a Hockey Night in Oswego pregame show.

OSWEGO — Friday night at the Marano Campus Center will feature the beginning of Men’s Hockey annual Whiteout Weekend as they host rivals SUNY Plattsburgh. The Lakers look to continue their Whiteout success after shutting out the Cardinals last year. Plattsburgh comes into the match up after dropping their first two games against SUNYAC opponents Brockport and Geneseo (3). The Lakers however gained their first conference win against Cortland in their home opener this past Friday. Max Novick and Mitch Emerson were huge producers for Oswego, both putting up three points. Laker fans can get tickets at the SUNY Oswego box office or watch live at WTOP 10 starting at 6 p.m. for the pregame show. Puck drop will at 7 p.m. in front of an expected sellout crowd.

OSWEGO — Men’s Hockey played their first game of the regular season last night at the Marano Campus Center against SUNY Cortland. The Lakers were victorious with a 6-3 win that was a source from the four unanswered goals that occurred in the second period. This Oswego surge was led by junior Max Novick as he notched two goals and an assist along with captain Josh Zizek getting two assists. #6 Oswego would hold off SUNY Cortland in the third period to start the season 1-0 in conference play. David Richer finished the night with a .888 save percentage after giving up three goals over the course of the game. Moving forward, Oswego will host SUNYAC rival Plattsburgh in the annual Whiteout game next weekend. Puck drop will be at 7 p.m. at the Marano Campus Center.

OSWEGO — The Men’s Hockey team will start their 2019-2020 regular season today against SUNYAC opponent Cortland. The Lakers are looking to continue their success last season versus the Red Dragons after sweeping their opponent both home and away. The most recent preseason poll has the Lakers slotted in the sixth position under Hobart (5) and Geneseo (3). After going 2-0 against Carleton Place and Nazareth in exhibition, the top story going into this season is who Ed Gosek will be starting between the pipes. OSWEGO — The Men’s Hockey team had their last exhibition game this past Saturday against the Nazareth Golden Flyers. Oswego looked to continue their success from last time out and that occurred when Jody Sullivan scored off a dish from senior Joseph Molinaro. Both players would later team up again towards the end of the first period to finish with a goal and an assist for each. Travis Broughman and Tyler Currie would both add a goal to keep the Lakers ahead of the Golden Flyers for a 4-3 final score. Oswego starts their regular season against Cortland on Friday at the Marano Campus Center.

OSWEGO — Men’s Hockey gets back to the ice this Saturday in their last exhibition game against the Nazareth Golden Flyers. After handling the CCHL Carleton Place this past Saturday, the Lakers look to play their first NCAA opponent of the season. Oswego State is 8-2 overall against this UCHC team ever since the colleges faced off for the first time in the 2012-2013 regular season. Senior Derek Brown looks to continue his point streak after tallying three goals last time out. Golden Flyers Head Coach George Roll will return to the Marano Campus Center once again after formerly being the Laker’s Head Coach from 1996-2003. Puck drop will be at 7 p.m. this Saturday during Family and Friends Weekend. WTOP10 will have coverage of this match up starting at 6:30 p.m. with Hockey Night in Oswego.

OSWEGO — Men’s Hockey kicked off their 2019-2020 season with a win over Carleton Place Saturday night. The 9-1 victory in the special Teal Night jerseys saw multiple Lakers getting onto the score sheet by the time the buzzer went off. Senior Derek Brown would net two goals in the first period and one in the third to get a hat trick. Another notable standout was Carter Allen’s three-point effort (1 goal and 2 assists). Each Lakers goalie would spend time in the crease for the team totaling for a combined 19 saves. Men’s Hockey hits the ice on Saturday for one last exhibition game versus Nazareth College at the Marano Campus Center. Puck drop will be at 7 p.m.

OSWEGO — Men’s Hockey starts their 55th hockey season this Saturday with their annual Teal Night game against Carleton Place. The Lakers look to start their season at Marano Campus Center after their 10-day trip overseas this past August. The Lakers swept their European competitors in their first ever trip over the pond. Oswego was ranked 3rd overall in the SUNYAC preseason poll behind rival Geneseo, who beat them last season in the SUNYAC Championship. New Laker captain Josh Zizek is looking to have another outstanding year after he recorded 25 points his junior year.  This match up will be the first of two exhibition games for the team before their first regular season game against SUNY Cortland.
